Washington Fruit Cake
Ingredients
- 2 cupfuls of butter
- 5 eggs well-beaten
- 3 cupfuls of brown sugar
- 1 cupful of sweet milk
- 1 teaspoonful of soda
- 4 cupfuls of browned flour
- 2 teaspoonfuls cream-tartar (mix as usual, and stir in at the last)
- 1/2 pound of currants, washed and dried
- 1/2 pound of raisins, seeded
- 1 pound of dates, seeded and chopped
- 1 teaspoonful of ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoonful nutmeg
Directions
Mix ingredients. Bake slowly and steadily until done. If any of the fruit is omitted add a little more flour.
