Recipe for Raised Brown Bread
Ingredients
- 2 cups corn meal
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 yeast cake
- 1/8 teaspoon soda
- 2 cups rye
- 1/4 cup lukewarm water
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 2 cups boiling water
Directions
- Pour boiling water on corn meal. Let cool.
- Dissolve yeast cake in lukewarm water.
- Add remaining ingredients and stir until blended.
- Let the dough rise overnight in a bread pan.
- Bake.
