Old-Fashioned Sweet Cornbread
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 1 cup fine dry bread-crumbs
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 egg white
- 4 teaspoons baking-powder
- 2/3 cup corn-meal
- 1 teaspoon salt
Directions
- Mix sugar and shortening together.
- Sift dry ingredients.
- Add the egg yolk, milk, and dry ingredients to the sugar and shortening.
- Beat the egg white and stir into the rest of the ingredients.
- Pour batter into a greased pan.
- Bake.
