How to Make Oatmeal Bread
Ingredients
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 yeast cake
- 1/2 cup molasses
- Bread flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups boiling water
Directions
- Pour the boiling water over the oats. Allow the mixture to cool.
- Dissolve the yeast cake in a small amount of warm water.
- Add the yeast and 1 1/2 cups bread flour. Let sit until it becomes spongy.
- Add salt and enough additional flour to make a stiff dough. Allow the dough to rise until it doubles in size.
- Divide dough into two equal halves and place each into a greased pan.
- Allow the dough to rise again.
- Bake.
