Parker House Rolls
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/2 yeast cake
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 4 cups flour
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
- Scald the milk and let cool.
- Add yeast, sugar, and water to the milk.
- Stir in flour, butter, and salt.
- Roll dough thin and spread with melted butter.
- Fold dough over and roll again, cutting into rounds.
- Spread tops of rounds with melted butter and press center.
- Fold each round in half and pinch the edges.
- Brush with butter again.
- Let rise.
- Bake several minutes, then brush the tops with egg and sweetened milk.
- Return to oven until brown.
