How to Make Salt Rising Bread
Ingredients
- 2 cups hot water
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 2 cups lukewarm milk
- flour
Directions
- Dissolve a 1/2 teaspoon of salt in the hot water.
- Stir in enough flour to make a soft dough.
- Beat for ten minutes.
- Cover dough and set in a warm place to rise for eight hours.
- Sitr the rest of the salt into the milk.
- Add enough flour to make a stiff batter before mixing it with the dough.
- Mix the dough thoroughly and let rise again until very light.
- Knead in enough flour to make dough the consistency of regular bread dough.
- Make dough into loaves and place them into bread pans to rise.
- Bake.
