How to Make Wheat Bread
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 1/2 yeast cake
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/4 water
- white flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- wheat flour
Directions
- Scald the milk.
- Add the water, molasses, and shortening to the water.
- When the mixture cools add the yeast, sugar, white flour, and salt. Beat 10 minutes.
- Allow the dough to rise 2 hours.
- Add enough wheat flour to make a stiff dough.
- Let dough rise to double its size.
- Divide dough into loaves and place in greased bread pans.
- Let rise again to double size.
- Brush dough with warm water and bake.
