How to Make Dry Yeast Bread

  1. Sift the flour.
  2. Bread up the yeast cake and put in a bowl.
  3. Add half a cup of water to the yeast. Stir.
  4. Stir in 1/2 cup of flour.
  5. Cover the bowl and let the mixture sit in a warm place for two hours.
  6. Add the rest of the water, sugar, salt, and half of the lard.
  7. Knead the dough for 20 minutes on a surface coated with flour.
  8. Place the dough into the bowl again and coat the the rest of the lard.
  9. Cover the dough and let it sit in a warm place overnight. The dough should rise to about three times its original size.
  10. Knead the dough for five minutes (without flour).
  11. Shape the dough into three small loaves and place them in greased bread pans.
  12. Cut lengtwise through the center of each loaf, then allow the loaves to rise to double their size.
  13. Bake.
