  1. Scald milk. Let cool.
  2. Add yeast to the milk.
  3. Stir in 1 cup of flour and let the mixture rise.
  4. Add the rest of the milk and 4 cups of flour. Allow the mixture to rise again.
  5. Add the butter, sugar, cinnamon, salt, egg, and rest of the flour.
  6. Knead dough on a floured surface.
  7. Cover the dough and allow it to rise.
  8. Roll the dough into strips about an inch and a half thick and 12 inches long.
  9. Braid the dough strips together and pinch the ends together.
  10. Place the braids on a greased pan.
  11. Bake.
  12. Brush with powdered sugar moistened with boiling water. Flavor with a pinch of cinnamon.
