Recipe for Cole Slaw
Coleslaw
Ingredients
- 3 cups shredded cabbage
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard
- cayenne
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 egg or 2 egg yolks
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons butter
- 1/4 cup vinegar
Directions
Heat the milk in a double boiler. Beat the eggs together with the dry ingredients and add the milk to them. Return this mixture to the double boiler and cook until it thickens. Remove from the heat, add the butter and vinegar, and strain over the cabbage. Refrigerate and serve cold.
